{"id":529,"date":"2016-06-07T19:53:44","date_gmt":"2016-06-07T16:53:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wavelab.ioc.ee\/?p=529"},"modified":"2016-06-07T19:53:44","modified_gmt":"2016-06-07T16:53:44","slug":"post-doc-position-in-the-area-of-coastal-marine-geosciences-in-marum","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wavelab.taltech.ee\/?p=529","title":{"rendered":"Post-Doc position in the area of coastal marine geosciences in MARUM"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"post-title\">\n<h1>PostDoc in MARUM<\/h1>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"post-content\">\n<p>The DFG Research Center <strong>MARUM<\/strong> at the University of Bremen, Germany, will be filling a <strong>Post-Doc<\/strong> position in the area of coastal marine geosciences.<\/p>\n<p>We are searching for an enthusiastic and dynamic young researcher who develops his\/her research program in the framework of the MARUM <em>Research<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Area\/Sediment Dynamics(SD)<\/em> in the Project SD1: \u201cBridging scales: From small scale morphological and sedimentological features to coastal and shelf systems\u201d. Based on in-situ lander- and ship-based field surveys and applied numerical modelling the project focuses on coastal hydrodynamics, transport processes and morphodynamics on various scales: from the formation of patterns in bed morphology and suspended sediments, to the role of bedforms in the dynamics of coastal systems.<\/p>\n<p>Requirements:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Completed doctoral degree, preferentially in Physics, Physical Oceanography, Earth Sciences, Coastal Engineering or Geosciences, or closely related fields.<\/li>\n<li>Experience with practical marine field work (intertidal area,shallow water) and\/or numerical modelling of shallow water processes and\/or laboratory flume experiments.<\/li>\n<li>Strong mathematical background.<\/li>\n<li>Skills in scientific computing (in Fortran or MATLAB) and visualizing numerical model output (e.g. using MATLAB, GMT, GIS).<\/li>\n<li>Skills in scientific writing and good publication record.<\/li>\n<li>Applicants should have excellent English language skills and enjoy working in an international and interdisciplinary team.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The position is limited to a term of up to 2 years and funded by the German Science Foundation (DFG).
