Soomere by phone about the Alexander von Humboldt Colloquium \u201eThe Baltic Sea as a Bridge\u201d was broadcast by the state radio channel Vikerraadio.<\/p>\n<p><strong>02-04\u00a0September 2010,<\/strong>\u00a0INTERNATIONAL COLLOQUIUM CO-ORGANISED BY THE WAVE ENGINEERING LABORATORY<\/p>\n<p>The team of the Wave Engineering Laboratory supported the organisation of the Estonian-Finnish Alexander von Humboldt Colloquium \u201eThe Baltic Sea as a Bridge\u201d in National Library, Tallinn, with over 80 participants from 12 countries. The colloquium, financially supported by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, gathered wide media coverage. It was mentioned in the news sections of several radio channels in the morning of September 3; journalists from two leading radio channels (Vikerraadio and Kuku Raadio) reported about the colloquium and T. Soomere gave interviews to Vikerraadio (by phone, broadcast in the afternoon of September 3) and to Kuku Raadio Marine Hour (about 10 min, broadcast twice on September 4).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>August 2010<\/h3>\n<p><strong>24-28\u00a0August 2010,<\/strong>\u00a0CONFERENCE<\/p>\n<p>T. E. Parnell, I. Didenkulova), \u201cLong-term variations of wave heights and its comparison with ice conditions in Estonian coastal waters\u201d (oral, 26.08, I. Zaitseva-P\u00e4rnaste, co-author T. Soomere), \u201cPotential of using Lagrangian trajectories for environmental management in the Gulf of Finland\u201d (oral 26.08, B. Viikm\u00e4e, co-authors T. Soomere, N. Soomere presented the lecture \u201cAre regional wave climates changing?\u201d to the Technical Meeting Series of the Tasmanian Divisions of RINA (Royal Institute of Naval Architects) and IMarEST, Australian Maritime College, University of Tasmania (Launceston, 18.08).<\/p>\n<p><strong>17\u00a0August 2010,<\/strong>\u00a0LECTURE OUTSIDE INSTITUTE OF CYBERNETICS<\/p>\n<p>T. Viikm\u00e4e and A. R\u00e4\u00e4met gave the oral presentation &#8220;A reliability study of wave climate modelling in the Baltic Sea&#8221; (16.06, co-author T. Soomere) and B.Viikm\u00e4e presented the\u00a0 oral paper &#8220;Utilizing Lagrangian trajectories for reducing environmental risks&#8221; (18.08, co-authors T. Soomere, N. Delpeche, H.E.M. Meier and K. D\u00f6\u00f6s).<br \/>\nFurthermore, B. Viikm\u00e4e\u00a0 was co-author to another oral presentation &#8220;Using multi-year circulation simulations to identify areas of reduced risk for marine transport.
