The workshop was hosted by Dr. Luigi Cavaleri and Dr. Luciana Bertotti in ISMAR, Venice, on 7\u201312 December 2009.<br \/>\nThe workshop focused on (i) formulation of new and emerging research topics in theoretical research and numerical modelling of wave-coast interactions and wave transformation in the nearshore in different scales, (ii) building a roadmap for pan-European cooperation towards management of marine-induced wave-based coastal hazards, (iii) discussing the potential of the research into ship wakes in understanding the impact of local tsunamis, (iv) optimising the setup of a long-wave model for the Adriatic Sea capable of simulating the impact of tsunamis to the Venice area.<br \/>\nIn the framework of the workshop, three lectures were presented to the ISMAR: T. Soomere, Applications of soliton interactions in rogue wave theory and in understanding the impact of vessel wakes (09.12.2009), T.Torsvik, Modelling of waves generated by high-speed ferries (09.12.2009) and I. Didenkulova, Tsunami and phenomena similar to tsunami: global and local scales (10.12.2009).<\/p>\n<p><strong>04 December 2009,<\/strong>\u00a0SEMINAR OF THE WAVE ENGINEERING LABORATORY<\/p>\n<p>I.
